For the last few years and especially since the pandemic, I have had the desire to live within walking distance from the beach and have an ocean view. I told Mikkel that if we ever found an affordable place like this, I would consider moving, especially if it had a pool and more than one bathroom. Don’t get me wrong. I have always loved where we live now and would continue to be happy to stay here.
During the Covid-19 quarantine, I started just looking online to see if anything was available in Pedasí. Nothing with my desired parameters came up. Then the quarantine was lifted and travel restrictions were slowly lifted as well. Mikkel asked if I would consider other places besides Pedasí. I was a little hesitant because I have always loved Pedasí and have many friends. But I decided to be open to other areas in Panama. It wouldn’t hurt to look.
In the meantime, taking advantage of our newly opened travel, we decided to get away from Pedasí after 7 months of basically staying home. We wanted to go to Las Lajas Beach Resort where we had been before, but they were not open. So we found a condo in Playa Blanca (located the opposite way toward Coronado and Panama City through AirBnb that was available. So we booked for 5 nights, 6 days. The condo was on the beach with a large pool. Although it was part of a 108 condo complex, there were only about 6 cars in the parking lot until Saturday night, at which time about a total of 12-15 cars were now parked. It was a very nice relaxing mini-vacation.
I think staying at the condo got me more open to looking elsewhere besides Pedasi, even to the possibility of a condo. When we returned, I started looking around. First I found a duplex apartment with a pool in Playa Uverito, located outside of Las Tablas. The pool was gorgeous, but it just seemed too rustic and small. Then last week I came across a Villa (or townhouse) in the small fishing village of Playa Rompio, located outside La Villa near Chitré. We went to see it this last Saturday, fell in love, and agreed to rent it starting January 1, 2021. It is a 2 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath, 2-story townhome with a maid’s small bedroom which includes another full bathroom (we’ll use for storage), enclosed front patio, open back patio looking toward a large pool, lots of greenspace, a balcony off one bedroom, another balcony off the master bedroom with a view of the ocean, within a 3-minute walk to the lovely beach. It is part of a gated-community with about 30+ townhomes. After weighing all the pros & cons, and praying over it, we just couldn’t pass this up.
So we will soon be saying goodbye to Pedasí after 7 years, but not for good. Pedasí is not that far away that we can’t visit occasionally.
But now I must also say goodbye to my readers of this blog, since we won’t be living in Pedasí anymore. It has been an adventure in writing. I never thought I would write so much. I have met many people who have read my blog and have actually come to visit Pedasí, even moved here. I have met others while visiting other places in Panama. And I have received many positive comments and inquiries over the years since I started writing in 2013. But now it is time to move on with a new adventure in our third life. I thought about starting a new blog, but I think I am going to take a break. I may start a new Facebook or Instagram page after the move to share our experiences. I will try to keep this blog open for readers to view the past stories as long as possible for now and let you know if I have a Facebook or Instagram page that you may wish to follow.
So for now, I wish whoever has been following my blog God’s blessings. I hope you have enjoyed reading about our third life in Pedasí.
