Today is New Year’s Eve. So far it has been pretty quiet in the pueblo, but I am sure the festivities will begin this evening. Since I haven’t wrote on this blog for a week, I thought I would wrap up this year with highlights of just the last week. And I will keep it short with pictures and a few comments. (You can always look into the archives of our past year or two to read about our adventures and journey living in Panama.)
Christmas Eve: John, the proprietor of Smiley’s Restaurante asked to lead the Christmas Sing-Along. It was a full house and I think we all had fun (at least I did).
Christmas Day: Spent late morning & afternoon at Puerto Escondido (local beach in Los Destiladeros near Pedasí) with Panamanian & Expat friends. Afterwards talked with a couple of our children and grandchildren back in the states through Skype and FaceTime.
The Day After Christmas: We hosted an “Expat Meet & Greet” party at our home. Touched base with old friends and made new ones. About 50+ guests attended. Lots of good conversation and food.
“Desfile de Navidad”: That evening after the party was the Christmas Parade in town. As usual it was posted to start at 6PM (Panamanian time) which means it would start anytime afterwards (about 8:30PM).
It was definitely a busy and fun weekend. The rest of the week was pretty relaxing. We did go to Las Tablas with the new owners of our car to try to complete the transfer of ownership. (That’s a story for another blog.) And Tuesday I went to local beach club with some girlfriends for an enjoyable day at the pool.
So now it is the last day of the year. We plan to go out for dinner but make it an early evening this Christmas Eve and bring in the new year at home. I would add “quietly” at home, but I will not be surprised if another fireworks show in the sky will be keeping us up for awhile. Tomorrow we will celebrate with some friends at their home near the beach.
So I want to wish everyone a Happy New Year of 2016! May your life be filled with joy and blessings as you continue in your own journey. We are looking forward to next year’s adventures in this coming third year of “Our Third Life”. ¡Feliz Año Nuevo!
